Named after the steelworks located in Bilston, Wolverhampton which produced iron and steel for over 200 years, it’s most likely that the original AJS factory based on Retreat Street, Wolverhampton used the Bilston-produced steel to build some of the early AJS models in the 1910’s-1920’s.
